ABOUT

BEHESHT - ONE NOMINATION FOR THE 2024 BREEDING SEASON

Standing at: Whytemount Stud (IRE)

Bred in France by The Aga Khan, Behesht spent his early racing years primarily in his home country, winning the Prix Turenne and finishing second in the Prix Frederic de LaGrange.

He sold to Calumet Farm prior to the 2016 racing season, and raced for his new owner for two seasons before retiring to stud. He finished his career with three wins in 16 starts for $143,833.

Behesht is out of the French Group 2-winning Kris mare Behkara, whose other foals of note include French Group 1 winner Behkabad and French stakes winner Carthage. His second dam is the European champion Behera.

The 11-year-old son of Sea The Stars previously stood at Calumet Farm in Lexington, Ky.

There is some great reports about his foals. Last year he covered a very decent book of mares.

NB All successful bidders must pay for their Lots no later than close of business on 18th January 2024.
The Nomination will entitle the Purchaser to have one approved mare covered by the stallion in the 2024 Northern Hemisphere breeding season. The purchaser shall be entitled to a free return to the stallion for the 2025 covering season for the mare covered in 2024 or another approved mare provided that the stallion is still standing at the same farm and is available to cover mares and only if, following the end of the 2024 covering season:-a) the purchaser produces a certificate stating the mare is barren and signed by a qualified veterinary surgeon relating to an examination carried out at least 40 days from the mare's last service by the stallion, OR b) the purchaser produces a veterinary certificate to the effect that the mare either failed to give birth to a live foal or gave birth to a foal which died within 48 hours of birth other than by reason of accident.
