After starting his career as assistant trainer to Nicky Henderson, Ben Pauling kick started his own training career in 2013, with just 8 horses which were mainly owned by family and friends.

Through a combination of hard work, dedicated staff and loyal owners Ben and the team are currently having one of their best seasons to date and are gearing up for an exciting next chapter in a brand-new state of the art training facility.

During Ben's short career to date he has amassed three Cheltenham Festival winners: Willoughby Court, Le Breuil and, most recently, Global Citizen as well as Aintree champions Barters Hill and Kildisart. 

Ben in his own words:

"We have some promising young horses that we are looking forward to showcasing next season. Our first eight years have flown by, and I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my career. We trained 167 winners in our first six seasons, including several Graded and Listed race winners such as Barters Hill, Willoughby Court, Delire D’Estruval, High Bridge, A Hare Breath, Global Citizen, Kildisart, Nadaitak and Le Breuil.

I have been very lucky to build a fantastic team around me and I couldn’t ask for better staff. My owners have been hugely supportive, and we have had many happy days and looking forward to many more. We have a lovely bunch of horses in the yard, a lot of them being bought as stores and are in the early stages of becoming stars of the future we hope. I will always try to build from the bottom, so they have the education they need in their early careers to excel as they progress.

The facilities we now have at Naunton Downs are second to none and designed to our specification. We are excited for the seasons ahead and look forward to building more memories and achievements to come."
