ABOUT

SHAMAN - ONE NOMINATION FOR THE 2024 BREEDING SEASON

Standing at: Yeomanstown Stud (IRE)

Bred and raced by the Wertheimer family and trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias, he is out of their dual listed-winning Green Desert mare Only Green, who set the pace for superstar Goldikova on many occasions.

The mare is a half sister to Group 1 champion and "Blue Hen" Occupandiste — the immediate family of names such as Intello and Mondialiste and one of the deepest in the stud book.

Shaman was twice a winner at 2 and was second and third at Listed and Group level before running a creditable fifth in the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere-Grand Criterium (G1).

As a 3-year-old, Shaman's victories in the Prix Omnium II and the Prix la Force (G3) set him up for the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French Two Thousand Guineas, G1), where he was a length behind Persian King, followed by fifth in the St. James's Palace (G1) at Royal Ascot and a second place in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois (G1) against his elders.

He beat a field including Group 1 winners Sottsass and Way To Paris in the Prix d'Harcourt, before finishing third to the former in the Prix Ganay (G1).

NB All successful bidders must pay for their Lots no later than close of business on 18th January 2024.

The Nomination will entitle the Purchaser to have one approved mare covered by the stallion in the 2024 Northern Hemisphere breeding season. The purchaser shall be entitled to a free return to the stallion for the 2025 covering season for the mare covered in 2024 or another approved mare provided that the stallion is still standing at the same farm and is available to cover mares and only if, following the end of the 2024 covering season:-a) the purchaser produces a certificate stating the mare is barren and signed by a qualified veterinary surgeon relating to an examination carried out at least 40 days from the mare's last service by the stallion, OR b) the purchaser produces a veterinary certificate to the effect that the mare either failed to give birth to a live foal or gave birth to a foal which died within 48 hours of birth other than by reason of accident.

Approx. Height: 16 Hands 1.75 Inches
