BELFAST BANTER TO BE SOLD VIA THOROUGHBID

Nov 15, 2021

Monday 15th November 2021 – Belfast Banter will go under ThoroughBid’s online hammer on Tuesday 23rd November, four days prior to his intended run in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.

The bidding will begin for Peter Fahey’s star hurdler, who won both the Country Hurdle at Cheltenham and the Grade 1 Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree last season, at 5pm on Tuesday evening and end at 7pm. He will be the only lot in the sale, which has been solely organised for the exciting son of Jeremy, such is the flexibility of ThoroughBid’s online auction service.

Peter Fahey, trainer of Belfast Banter, said: “Belfast Banter has been an absolute star. Any horse that lands you a Grade 1 and a Cheltenham Festival win is very special, and he still looks to have his best days ahead of him.

“Being only a six-year-old, he still has plenty of scope and it’ll be exciting for whoever secures him at the sale, particularly with an entry in the Fighting Fifth. Horses of his calibre don’t come around too often, so I’ll be hoping to continue training him for his new owners.”

ThoroughBid has so far held two sales, with Jolie Comtesse, a half-sister to Group 1 winner Trueshan, topping the bill at £60,000 . The online auction house has also completed sales for David Pipe, Charlie Hills, and Andrew Balding.

Will Kinsey, co-founder of ThoroughBid, said: “We’re delighted to be entrusted with such a high-profile horse and to reflect the flexibility of ThoroughBid we have decided to offer Belfast Banter in a standalone sale.

“With an already glittering CV and a big season ahead, we can’t wait for the bidding to begin at 5pm on Tuesday 23rd November.”
