A Definite Getaway tops Autumn Sale at £14,500
Welsh trainer Peter Bowen was responsible for signing for the top lot at ThoroughBid’s Autumn Sale, with the online hammer coming down on five-year-old gelding A DEFINITE GETAWAY at £14,500.
The sale-topper marked Bowen’s first ever purchase on ThoroughBid – Racing’s Online Auction House – and he hopes of having some beginners’ luck:
“It’s the first time I’ve bought one on ThoroughBid. We were on our way to Chepstow at the time, so it’s good to be able to access these sales and bid from your mobile online. We’re happy with the price we paid and I suppose I’ll be able to tell you in about six months if it turns out to be worth it!” quipped Bowen.
“I like the fact he’s shown some ability over hurdles and he looks like he should make a nice novice chaser, so we thought we’d take a chance on him. The plan will be to give him a little break until mid-January and then get him back into work.”
Elsewhere in the Autumn Sale, Gordon Elliott sold three horses, including wildcard ARCTIC AMBITION for £7,500 to Raceline Scotland. Point-to-Point owner/trainer Tim Underwood made two purchases, going to £6,500 for point runner-up KILLER KYLER KYLE and £4,000 for Elliott’s other wildcard, THE PRIEST’S LEAP.
