SKY’S THE LIMIT AT £50,000 IN SEPTEMBER SALE

Sep 21, 2022 · September Sale

Tuesday 20th September 2022 – Iconic Sky, in-foal to Golden Horn and sold with a filly at foot by Jack Hobbs, topped ThoroughBid’s September Sale at £50,000 on Friday, a price that left Beswick Brothers Bloodstock very satisfied.

23 lots exchanged hands in total, marking a 57.5% clearance rate and total turnover of £199,200, including three lots from Willie Mullins and two from Charlie Hills, while the dispersal of the Beswick Brothers’ Bloodstock saw six lots sold.

Warwick Beswick, Co-owner of Beswick Brothers Bloodstock, said: “We’re very happy with the result of ThoroughBid’s September Sale. Every lot that sold hit or exceeded the target we had in mind, so we’re really pleased with it all.

“Iconic Sky topped the auction at £50,000 and, again, that’s exactly what we were looking for. She’s a beautiful mare with a nice future.”

Hills’ Spoof and Papa Don’t Preach sold for £7,000 and £16,500, respectively, with both horses joining the Kevin Frost yard, while Dark Voyager, purchased by Naren Shah for £13,500, topped the Mullins trio.

ThoroughBid also sold their first yearling store, a son of Mahler who is a three-parts brother to G2 winner and G1 placed Chris’s Dream, for £18,000.

The sale marked a year in operation for ThoroughBid, which has seen the company complete 11 online auctions in total.

James Richardson, CEO of ThoroughBid, said: “Friday was a very busy day of bidding, with interest coming in from all corners of the globe, and overall a very successful sale with 23 lots sold totalling almost £200,000.

“Topping the bill was Iconic Sky, who was part of the Beswick Brothers’ dispersal, and I know they’re very pleased with the final price of £50,000.

“Elsewhere, we’re delighted to have sold all three of the lots consigned by Willie Mullins, as well as getting two away for Charlie Hills in the shape of Spoof and Papa Don’t Preach, who were both bought by Kevin Frost.

“This sale marks a year since our first back in September 2021 and we’re delighted with the way things are progressing.”
