ABOUT

ALIGNAK (GB) - ONE NOMINATION FOR THE 2024 BREEDING SEASON

Standing at: Clongeel Stud (IRE)

A listed winner at Chester over a mile and a half, placed at group-level in England, and stakes-placed also for Jamie Osborne in Meydan.

Alignak’s sire is Sea The Moon (Sea The Stars), the sensational Group 1 German Derby winner who is now among that elite group of stallions, siring Group 1 winners on the flat and a Grade 1 National Hunt winner, and he is related to some fine runners from his female line.

Last year was an unforgettable one for the dam side of Alignak’s pedigree. Two of his half-sisters, stakes winners themselves, bred Group 1 winners.

Alwilda (Hernando) is the dam of Alpinista (Frankel), and she gained the tenth and final victory of her career when she raced to victory in the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and six of her successes were at Group 1 level.

Alignak is one of four stakes winners, among nine successful offspring in all, from the triple Group 1 winner Albanova (Alzao).

A very exciting young sire and one that should be on every breeders radar.

NB All successful bidders must pay for their Lots no later than close of business on 18th January 2024.

The Nomination will entitle the Purchaser to have one approved mare covered by the stallion in the 2024 Northern Hemisphere breeding season. The purchaser shall be entitled to a free return to the stallion for the 2025 covering season for the mare covered in 2024 or another approved mare provided that the stallion is still standing at the same farm and is available to cover mares and only if, following the end of the 2024 covering season:-a) the purchaser produces a certificate stating the mare is barren and signed by a qualified veterinary surgeon relating to an examination carried out at least 40 days from the mare's last service by the stallion, OR b) the purchaser produces a veterinary certificate to the effect that the mare either failed to give birth to a live foal or gave birth to a foal which died within 48 hours of birth other than by reason of accident.
